Home of the Golden Isles

Located on the Atlantic coast just south of the Altamaha River, Glynn County is among Georgia's founding eight counties. Established on February 5, 1777, it encompassed 423 square miles of land previously occupied by Creek Indians. The county is named in honor of John Glynn, a respected member of the British Parliament.

The county boasts renowned golf courses, exceptional fishing opportunities along the East Coast, and picturesque beaches on its four coastal islands. Comprising Jekyll Island, St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island, and Blythe Island, Glynn County's five islands collectively form the Golden Isles. This name stems from their expansive marshlands, which take on a stunning golden hue during the autumn months.
